Tyrie Cuyler Shoots Two Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Before They Have Time to React
Two Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers were shot by Tyrie Cuyler in the blink of an eye during a traffic stop.
On October 27, 2015 Savannah-Chatham Metro Police initiated a traffic stop on 25-year old Tyrie Cuyler. Cuyler was the primary suspect in two different rapes at the time of the stop. During the stop, one of the officers asked him to step out of the vehicle.
Cuyler became visibly nervous and would not show his right hand. He suddenly pulls out a .38 caliber revolver and fires three shots at the officers, striking two of them. The three officers on scene return fire as Cuyler attempts to escape. They fire a total of 19 rounds, successfully ending the threat.
