Two Lavonia Police Officers Shot In Less Than One Second
A suspect pulls a gun from his pocket and shoots two Lavonia police officers in the blink of an eye.
On 12/11/2016 Lavonia, Georgia Officers Jeffery Martin and Michael Schulman initiated a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle. The driver initially complied for Lavonia Police and stepped out of the stolen vehicle.
Captain Michael Schulman told the suspect to take his hands out of his pockets. The suspect suddenly pulled out a pistol and opened fire. 22-year-old Khari Anthony Dashaun Gordon shot Captain Schulman in his shoulder. He then turned and shot Officer Martin in his leg and hand.
Gordon fled into nearby woods whee he was captured without further incident. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Both officers survived the incident with non-life threatening injuries.
