Madera Police Officer with Ride Along Shot at During Pursuit

A female civilian on a ride-along with Madera police officer got more than she bargained for.

On 10/23/2016 a Madera, California officer, who was only out of training for two weeks, attempted to pull over a white Mazda SUV. The officer had a civilian rider in his patrol vehicle at the time.

The white SUV speeds off with the officer in pursuit. The passenger in the SUV fires several rounds from the moving vehicle. The officer’s vehicle becomes too damaged to continue the pursuit. The passenger was wounded by flying glass. The officer was not injured.
